Select branches of the southern supermarket giant Publix have made grocery shopping more exciting. And how!
As part of its Publix Pours initiative, a café-like store amenity, the company may now offer wine and beer to customers at the bar or as they shop.
Talk about taking "Where shopping is a pleasure" literally. "Whether it's happy hour, Sunday fun day, or anytime, actually, you can have a drink at Pours," Publix says.
The chain presently offers the bonus at select Florida locations:
Plaza Ecco in Orlando
Clermont Town Center
Naples Towne Centre (opening on Dec. 1)
Publix at Halifax in Ormond Beach
Parkway Village of St. Johns in St. Augustine
Publix Pours is offered in all eight Publix GreenWise Markets, the chain's organic supermarket shops. The business aims to build more of these locations at more outlets.
Publix Pours was originally released at a GreenWise Market in Tallahassee in 2018. Aside from alcoholic drinks, the supermarket concept sells coffee, tea, on-tap kombucha, smoothies, and açai bowls.
Rolling out alcoholic drinks isn't the only reason Publix has made news recently. The employee-owned supermarket business has launched 10 new stores this autumn, including four in one week twice.
Publix inaugurated its Lutz, FL, branch today. Going ahead, the business wants to build four more outlets this year.
Its Myrtle Beach, S.C., store at Coventry Marketplace will open on Nov. 30, and its Naples, Fla., store at Naples Towne Centre will open the following day.
On Dec. 14, Publix will open two additional Tennessee stores: one at Hickory Ridge Shopping Center in Lebanon and another at Newman's Crossing in Gallatin.
