Two-shell tacos have been tested by Taco Bell. A crispy taco is wrapped in a flatbread "shell" in its "Gordita" line.
The "Double Decker" line, no longer available, had beans between a soft-shell taco and a crunchy one.
The company is trying three $2 "Double-Stacked" tacos in Birmingham, Ala.
The fast-food website revealed what's in the two new Double Stacked Tacos:
The $2 Sweet Scorpion Double Stacked Taco is a crunchy taco shell filled with the brand's signature seasoned beef, shredded lettuce,
and cheddar cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla with nacho cheese sauce and topped with a new Sweet Scorpion sauce.
The most shocking thing is that Taco Bell named a sweet sauce "Scorpion Sauce." Contrary to its name, the sauce is based on sweet chillis sauce.
8% same-store sales growth and 5% unit growth drove 11% worldwide system sales growth.
With our amazing workforce and solid franchisee connections, it's no wonder that Taco Bell tops Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500 list for the third year in a row.
Taco Bell also boosted U.S. system sales 14%, driven by 11% same-store sales growth. The CEO attributes that to menu innovation and value.
CEO said, "Overall, Taco Bell did a tremendous job this quarter at balancing both sides of the customer spectrum by showcasing luxury goods that
our consumers crave, such as the Grilled Cheese Burrito with attractively priced items like Nacho Fries."
