Taco Bell Testing Its Next Major Menu Innovation

Taco Bell's "Veggie Cravings" menu includes the Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme, Cheesy Roll Ups, and Veggie Mexican Pizza.

The Cravetarian Taco and Crispy Melt Taco have a pea and chickpea protein blend, as well as a plant-based shell for the Naked Chalupa.

Live Mas has added another plant-based option. Beyond Carne Asada Steak, a vegan protein, will be tested in Dayton, Ohio, on October 13.

Taco Bell collaborated with Beyond Meat to create the Beyond Carne Asada Steak.

The cooperation between Yum! Brands and the plant-based startup began in early 2021, but the carne asada release was postponed after the first prototype failed to satisfy Taco Bell's objectives.

Beyond Carne Asada Steak is crafted with basic plant-based ingredients and Taco Bell's unique flavours.

Beyond Meat's Chief Innovation Officer said in a press release, "We know consumers want better-for-the-planet protein solutions without sacrificing taste."

Beyond Carne Asada Steak combines the taste and texture of marinated, grilled steak with the benefits of plant-based meat.

The combined Taco Bell and Beyond Meat team considered a low-cost meatless alternative when planning the launch. Taco Bell's new protein costs the same as its classic steak.

Beyond Carne Asada Steak is featured on the menu in a quesadilla, but may be substituted into any other menu item for endless unique flavour combinations.
