Diet and normal Mountain Dew include Yellow 5 (tartrazine), a hazardous food colour. Yellow 5 is hazardous to genes and cells.
Red 40 and Yellow 5 are food colours associated to severe physiological consequences. Unfortunately, Sun Drop Cherry Lemon includes both colours.

ascorbic acid in soda, it produces benzene, a carcinogen (i.e. it may cause cancer).
Pepsi and Coke have caramel colouring. Soda caramel colour may be carcinogenic.
During caramel colour production, 4-methylimidazole (4-MEI) may develop, which raises cancer risk over time.
